Paper, Paper and more Paper

I spent most of my Saturday at the Paper Event. It is a three day event but working on Thursday and Friday I was not able to attend. So Saturday I made a day of it. The local Art Media store is who puts on this event and they put together some great demos and such fabulous papers and accessories for all sorts of paper crafting. I was lucky to meet Debra Glanz from Reminiscence papers. Along with Mary O'neil owner of Hot Potatoes rubber stamps. This time around she was just there as a spectator not demoing or selling her products. She commented she wanted to know what it felt like to just carry one suitcase on a flight instead of 8 or 9. She is such a sweet lady with a Tennessee accent. I also met Jacki Crist who did a demo on Backgrounds to Dye for. Along with all the excitement of the Paper Event, the local Farmers Market was also going on. that was just an extra bonus. The weather made for a great Fall day. So I did come away with some paper of course. Here is just a few of them.

They are the large 30" by 20" sheets. So since I don't have a flat draw or surface to store them. And rather that storing them in rolls. I found a great way to display them.

It was a little wall space that I took a hanger with some clips and cliped the stackof papers to and hung it from a nail on my wall. Next to my new still getting organized book shelves. I just needed more storage room. I just needed to move everything from my tables to some place so I got these shelves and right now it is just put on the shelves in no such order. So some of the similar things are in different places.

I should get to working on my Altered Book pages. Since the group meets this afternoon at Collage.

Take Care everyone. Keep on Creating.

Finishing up a couple projects.

I took Lesley Riley's More Cloth Paper Scissors class at Art and Soul and wow we learned so many great techniques using different things. I finally had time to work on putting the finished collage together. And here it is.

All sorts of things going on. Thank you Lesley for the wealth of information you filled my head with.

On another project I was working on. I have had my laminator from Purple Cows for several months now and have found a new use for it. I have put together a couple collages and then I put them in the hot pockets and put it through my laminator.

I had to be careful about the thinkness of the items I used but I think they turned out Okay.
This is just a quick post. I need to head off so I can recharge my brain for some more creative thinking.

More to Share

The charms I received from everyone at the charmsters swap barely fit on my chain necklace, even with it being a double chain.

With Art and Soul under my belt and a new love of soldering, which I found pretty much all the supplies at Volcano Arts, got the glass from my local stained glass store. I am thinking of doing something with soldering for the new charm swap that I am in. This one has a valentines theme. So I have a couple months to come up with something definite.

Though before I get ahead of myself in the holidays and seasons. I plan on enjoying this time of year, Autumn. The leaves are changing colors, temperatures are dipping a little and here in the North west moving into the liquid sunshine (rain) time of year. That may be a good excuse to stay inside and let my creative juices continue to flow. Though I may take some time to curl up in my favorite chair with a blanket, a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. Growing up we would have buttered toast we would dip into our hot chocolate. It brings back such great memories of childhood. We lived in the mid west at that time.
Any way last weekend I went for a drive out in the country and just had some good views of the seasons changing.

Well everyone take care and be safe.
Until next time :)

Wow, what a week!

Ok, I have to start by asking does any one elses creative space look like this?
This is only one of my table/desk spaces. The other is over flowing as well. As I am typing this blog I can't help but have it be in front of me.

After all the Art and Soul classes, which were just awesome by the way, it comes back to having to unpack all the class supplies. Along with all the goodies you get from vendor night and all the trades and swap items that I got as well. Oh I know what I will be doing this weekend. Working in my creative space.

Ok, so last year was my first Art and Soul and I just went to my classes and did not participate in any swaps, trades or interacted much with the whole thing. This year was 100% better. Becoming invovled with the Charmsters swap was a great thing to do. I went and met alot on fabulous ladies who just flow with talent and creativity. With over 50 ladies participating not one of the charms looked alike. I had a chain necklace that I wore through out Art and Soul that I kept adding my charms to. Well, lets say, that come the last day that thing was getting heavy. Before I put each charm on the necklace I took it out of its packaging and put the charm and persons information together and took a picture for referencing later. Since I was just on information overload I knew I would not retain it in my head. Though I have a better way for displaying and wearing my charms, so stay tuned for pictures and updates on that.

So now on to some of the classes that I took. Claudine Hellmuth's magazine alterolgy taught me alot more things that I can do with those old magazines that are lying around my house.

Sally Jeans, Le Divine Shrine class I did alot of soldering on my shrine. What is my shrine of, you may ask, well I just had to do a shrine of my two fur kids, Jasper and Tiger. They put up with my long hours away and then my many hours in my creative space. Though they do let me know when it is getting a bit much and they do need that attention. Or it just may be me feeling guilty for not giving them enough attention. This is why I don't have a dog.

Here is what I have done on my shrine. Though there is a goblet pedestal that it needs to be mounted to.
Before the glass is soldered on.

After the glass is on. Though it is a different side from above.

Well I bes be wrapping this up. Lots more to get done. More pictures to come on Art and Soul.

Until next time, keep on creating.

What a beginning

I just had to write about my first day at Art & Soul, today is my one down day. My wednesday class was with Jessica Acosta, Layered Dolls. Loved the class and all my class mates were great. Me and Jessica with my doll creation.

So then after my class I stuck around and met all of my fellow Charmsters for the swap. Laurel Steven, in the forground on the right of the first photo below, was the coordinator of the whole group. Thank you Laurel.

Other Charmsters swapping.

The necklace I am wearing in the top photo will be filed with charms by the end of retreat.
More photos to come.

Smiles :)
